It sounds so very cliched….but reading has been my greatest passion. I feel reading the most irrelevant of stuff also adds to your repertoire …either of knowledge or language.
I grew up with romantic novels from Mills & Boons and thrillers from Sidney Sheldon, Jeffery Archer and so on.
My knowledge of places and language was greatly enhanced by devouring romantic novels.
Reading the likes of Sidney Sheldon, Jeffery Archer, David Baldacci has given me an insight into world politics and created a hunger in me to know more. Today I read lot of non fiction books. But the roots somewhere lie with the thrillers i have read before. When I visited Washington and stood in front of the White House, it was as if all my books coming alive in front of my eyes.
Of course, I had a phase recently wherein I could not read a lot- getting reading glasses, advent of mobiles, etc. But thankfully, I am back to where I belong….the super world of books.
