| This is a must-book read to understand about Afghanistan. It is dismaying to observe how a country dominated first by Russians and then Americans is so very ravaged by the forces ruling it and by its internal discontent therein. A war which has never been won either by the western forces, taliban or supposedly pro-democracy crusaders has left the country in shambles. Russians, then Americans, the Taliban, the country side warlords all create a milieu wherein normal and safe living seem a luxury….especially in the provinces. How women remain within the walls of the house in the countryside is difficult to digest and incomprehensible to the lucky ones like us living in a liberated world. This book is well-researched by the author and has given us a peek into the country and its difficult-to understand geopolitical landscape. |
