The 5 books I would love to re read

Though I am a lover of non-fiction books, strangely when i am making this list, many fiction books come to my mind.

this list is random and is not in order of preference.

Kane and Abel by Jeffery Archer

Read it during college days. A master thriller tracing the lives and interwining of the faith and destinies of two men born on the same day…one into richness, William Kane and Abel Rosnovski.. a poor destitute who makes it big.An overwhelming saga of enmity, hatred and fortune…it is yet one of my favourites to re read at some point of life.

The God Father by Mario Puzo

I do not need to write about this….one of the most famous fiction books on the italian mafia immortalized by the famous film starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. A super thriller, creating a super mileu; it will always be one of my favourites.

The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William L Shirer

A masterpiece on the Nazi reign by Hitler, this book is a must read to understand and know about the hitler reign, his rise and fall.  I was in college when i read it, and it instilled in me a horrifying intrigue of this era…and created a thirst in me to know more about this. After reading this book, I started collecting and reading more books on the holocaust and hitler reign. It is definitely a must read for me at some stage further.

Personal History by Katharine Graham

Winner of the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Biography, this book is a gripping account of a woman’s story heading one of the world’s most powerful newspaper- The Washington Post. Self-critical when essential and analytical about her decisions are the backbone of this book. Her rise to the seat of power….how she grapples with it, fumbling and unsteady and the way she rises and deals with it……this is an account not to be missed.

Krishna The God who lived as a Man by Bhawana Somaaya

It is one of the most poignant account of Lord Krishna I have ever read. A fictional tale of his relationships with the four women in his lives, his wives Draupadi and Satyabhama, Radha and Draupadi, it draws on all relationship beautifully depicting the depth and intensity of each pulling you into this circle of yearning and emotions. It is difficult for me to put into words how this book has affected me….but it is a book i would yearn to read again and again.
