Remember in olden days when we used to on a television channel, there would be a single TV newsreader (they were just newsreaders) reading out news calmly without any histrionics or loudness.
Their job was to just read out the news. And we could really hear the news. No opinions. No arguments.
And today? We open news channels and what do we see.
Debates, Arguments, Loudness…. all out to opine and put their views strongly ahead. There are no news….one or two topics discussed in details and all other news relegated to the background.
All want to be heard. All want to speak… forceful, opinionated, hell-bent on putting their words forward.
The gloss is fading. The charisma getting lost.
Why can’t calmness prevail ? Why can’t normal discussion take place ? Simple, intelligent and intelligible?
Is that too much to ask?
