We spend so much time in our cars travelling within and outside the city.
And what do we do? Open our mobiles and get engrossed in the what’s app, instagram, facebook and so on.
Remember when we used to gaze out of the window and observe.
Observe…… the moving traffic. The couple on the scooter next to us. The child playing with a toy in the next car. The customers streaming out of the shops. The lari wallas and their goodies so artistically displayed. A mother with child trying to hail a rickshaw.
It was a lesson in human observation. Of trying to understand the nuances of people travelling home or for fun. Of people, of emotions, of journeys.
It was a peek into life itself.
We were more relaxed when we got out of the car at the end of the journey. Our heads were not so heavy. We were fresher, maybe. Today, our heads are bent completely into this great technological puppet…the smartphone. And we look up only when we reach our destination. A little dazed. A little pre occupied.
What a loss! Those simple joys. Those easy lessons.
