It is an amazing treatise on Afghanistan’s troubled years between 2001 and 2014.
Extremely well researched with solid attention to details, it convey the sense of despondency when the best of intentions can be lost in a jumbled wire of circumstances and decisions.
The book is an intense journey into troubled politics of Afghanistan – a prey to war, terrorism and global power politics.
Good intentions clouded by personal/national ambitions. Deep-rooted cultural and regional rigidities and insecurities. Not-so-right decisions. Interpersonal rivalries of the powers-that-be.
Afghanistan is a classic example of country caught up in the quagmire of global politics. In this entire scenario of war and bloodshed , the victim has been the country and it’s citizens.
Deprived of normal conditions and living in a country with no clear horizons visible, the journey towards normalcy seems a long road ahead.
I recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in the Afghanistan and it’s terror and war-ridden canvas.
