“It is all going to change forever.”
“This is the new normal.”
“Social rules are going to change.”
The statements are solid. The prophecies are strong.
That Life will never be the same again. And socially, all the rules are going to take a full turn.
But I sometimes wonder: is it really going to happen?
Man is a social animal and once having tasted the all pervasive high of a big social milieu, it is going to be a difficult you turn, if ever it is going to be. Agree…. that things will remain the new normal for 6 months or maybe a year. But FOREVER?!!!!!! That is a little hard to digest.
Once the virus disappears from our lives, maybe even social distancing might too…. not like a bang…. of course. The fears will take some time to fade, the hesitation to shake a hand will linger in the air, the mask will yet be worn like the ancient shield. Because we have been frightened and completely overwhelmed. The virus has left us shaken and defenceless against a completely unknown entity which has scared us out of our wits. How could this happen to us? Is it really happening?
So, at present, we are a bunch of obedient school kids scared into submission. Obeying all rules of lockdown, social distancing and protecting ourselves with a mask.
But……….having said all this and acknowledging the wave of change….I sometimes wonder. We cannot ignore one basic fact. Man is born as a social animal and hungers for physical interaction. From ancient times, we are a race which thrives on social systems of meeting, talking, celebrating. Birth and death is defined by a mingling of people for celebration or mourning. The smallest of event is expressed through a large gathering. We take pride and happiness in being together bestowing on us a sublime feel of joy and cheer.
So, it is difficult to say that …things will change. That …..the new normal is staying at home. That…..we will never be the same again.
I am sure deep down all are wondering. Will it? Won’t it?

Yes I agree with you totally. This will be for 1 , on a higher side 2 years…. Once the virus is taken care of this new normal will be obsolete. We will again want to meet people, flaunt our belongings😁
